When my wife, Jen, and I started Summit Heating and Air, there was no backup plan—no safety net, no second job to fund our little startup.
We fully embraced the mindset of "burn the boats" and committed everything to making this work. With a $4,500 used service truck, a logo and website bartered through heating and air work, and an incredible community supporting us, Summit Heating and Air was born.
We turned in our two-week notices at our "real" jobs, and on the Friday of our last day, we made it official with a simple Facebook post: Summit Heating and Air is open! That following Monday morning, we woke up, made some coffee, and waited. Then, the phone rang for the first time—a surreal moment. Even crazier? It never stopped ringing.
For the past 10 years, we’ve grown exclusively by word of mouth, building deep roots in our community.
Summit isn’t owned by private equity or outside investors—it’s a thriving, family-run company that values people first.
And thus we’ve adopted "People Over Profits" which is much more than a motto—it’s the core of who we are. We believe that when you put people first—both your team and your customers—success will follow.
